“Asterisk”
2005
"Asterisk" consists of two sculptural elements and special lighting. The first sculpture is made of triangular prisms with 2 way mirror/color Plexiglas panels, the other sculptural element is a square ceiling area that has been treated with a mirroring surface. "Asterisk" is situated in the middle of the entryway ceiling, so that it is experienced as a prismatic lenses multiplying a library patron’s access to the visual spaces of the library upstairs in unexpected ways. The typographical symbol for the asterisk, like this art work, indicates the presence of an aside or additional set of thoughts by calling the readers attention to something that is located elsewhere. The work has differentiated lighting for the daytime and the nighttime.
